I am obsessed with expectations and how they impact our lives. After completing my Ph.D. in clinical psychology, I began my own private practice where I began seeing overwhelmed, worried women as my primary client group. I began noticing a pattern; regardless of my clients' achievements, they were constantly feeling that they were not living up to expectations.

I coined the term Expectation Discrepancy Syndrome; the common experience of feeling that there is a gap between expectations and reality, and within that gap lives shame, judgment and never feeling good enough. In order to treat this common experience, we need to become aware of our expectations and decide whether we want to keep them, tweak them or screw ‘em!

I have helped my clients identify the unrealistic expectations that have created distress and replaced them with ones that allow every person to do life their own way.
